Debunking home defense myths

Home security options
Intrusion analysis

Tier One Tactical Breacher

The Tier One Tactical Breacher teaches the student to successfully gain access to a number of obstacles using a multitude of tools and techniques. *Upon completion of this class, the participants will have a solid, foundational understanding of the

history, concepts, principles and current applications for conducting mechanical & shotgun

breaching techniques.

Instructional Objectives

At the end of this course of instruction, the student will:

1. Be able to illustrate the historical basis of structural breaching.

2. Be able to conduct standard breaching with handheld tools or shotgun.

3. Be able to breach multiple types of commercial and residential doors.

4. Be able to access and choose the correct tools for breaching applications.

5. Be able to conduct a target site POE reconnaissance if applicable.

6. Be able to complete a hasty POE target site plan of action.

Building on the learning models from traditional, self-defense focused Force on Force courses, Opposed is designed to test and reinforce students’ real-time problem-solving skills.  This course is a high-intensity, exploration of proper techniques and tactics.  Instead of replicating possible real-life scenarios, this course places students in increasingly complicated situations to measure reaction and strategy against armed opponents in varied environments.

From simple to worst-case-scenario, Opposed pushes performance both physically and mentally to increase student stress inoculation and aid in identifying skills that can be improved in personal practice. 

UTM training cartridges and conversion kits are used in this course.  No live ammunition is needed or will be allowed. 

Instruction in this course includes:

 

  • Real world safety

  • Working structures

  • Less-than-ideal conditions draw

  • less-than-ideal shooting positions

  • Defense/aid of others

  • Injured/occupied weapon manipulation

  • Facing dedicated threats

  • Sympathetic Nervous System saturation for stress inoculation

  • High pace, high round count training scenarios and exercises.

Long pants with a belt (no sweat pants or yoga pants), appropriate holster for intended carry position, positive attitude and willingness to engage and learn, hydration/Snacks, eye protection, NLTA (Sims or UTM) converted handgun (if own), 50 rds of pistol non lethal training ammunition man marking rounds (available for purchase day of class) MTAC has converted Glock 17/19 and a Sig P320C and holsters for use if you don't have your own.

EDC Combatives: Force on Force - Warrior Poet Society

EDC Combatives/Special Operations Combatives Program (SOCP Training)

This 2 day course introduces the fundamentals of SOCP (Special Operations Combatives Program), as well as techniques from other combat-focused disciplines designed to meet the threats of day to day civilian life. Topics covered will include basic self defense techniques, pistol takeaways, knife takeaways, EDC setups, situational awareness, mindset, and hand to hand combat introduction. While these skills and techniques are employed by Special Forces Operators, they are life-or-death practices that are integral to self defense for any civilian. Register HERE

Instructor Bio:

15 year Army veteran Joshua Griffiths has an extensive special operations background serving in 75th Ranger Regiment 2nd Ranger Battalion, 10 Special Forces Group CRF (Crisis Response Force). Serving as an instructor for both 10th SFG and currently 20th SFG SFAUCC (Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat Course); Joshua is extremely well versed in teaching Special Operations Tactics, specifically close quarters combat, Executive Protection, SOCP (Special Operations Combatives Program), rifle/pistol tactics with substantial experience in theater with 8 combat deployments serving Iraq, Afghanistan, Niger, and Saudi Arabia (serving on former President Donald Trump’s Presidential Protection detail), in addition to 4 contracting trips overseas outside of his military career serving on executive protection details in Middle Eastern countries for the US Government.

Joshua is a man of faith with strong family and Christian values. He enjoys spending time with his family, jeeping, and being outdoors. He is passionate about teaching and bringing the knowledge he’s gained from the military to assist others in training for the safety of themselves and their families.

Class Requirements:

18 years of age, US Citizen, legally allowed to possess a firearm, physically capable or in good health enough to take part in a “sparring” type situations.

What You Should Bring

  • Clothing practical for EDC (pants/shorts capable of supporting a holster)

  • Long sleeves, pants, gloves, and some form of neck protection (scarf, shemagh, etc.) for force on force, UTM on day 2.

  • Bring lunch and water for both days

  • Mouth piece and cup are optional

  • If you own a Glock 17/22/19/23 compatible holster, we encourage you bring it to stress test it in realistic/"train like you fight" conditions. Holsters will be provided other wise.

  • Trim finger nails and toe nails to prevent scratching/cutting partner

  • Shoes: shoes on mats will be limited to low tread shoes (ie: boxing, wrestling, Chuck Taylor’s) *the wearing of shoes is a case by case basis depending on venues wishes*
