Youth Firearms Safety
We welcome back former State Trooper, NRA Instructor Tami Watson to MTAC! Tami will be offering courses that prepare the students for our Basic Pistol course.
We owe it to our children go give them the tools to make decisions about their safety when an adult is not present. In a world that is becoming increasingly more dangerous, our children are faced with choices every day. If they are not prepared to make the right choices it may result in deadly consequences. Our philosophy is education over ignorance.
This course is designed to facilitate open discussion and scenarios engage the kids in real-life decision making situations.
Please allow one and a half hours for this class.
Topics Covered:
Gun Safety
What are the parts of a bullet
BB Guns
How to talk to my friends about guns
This class is designed for a classroom. Real guns, real ammunition and safety gear will be discussed. Never will a loaded gun be used. Our children encounter firearms whether in our homes or the homes of friend’s or family. Kids will leave with a better understanding of firearms and how to deal with unpopular decisions under peer pressure.
Firearms Safety - Second Step Class
We welcome Tami Watson back for part 2 of the series. In this class, we will be utilizing a SIRT (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) pistol.
This class is designed to remove the fear and intimidation of learning how to shoot while still providing a realistic environment. The fundamentals of shooting a handgun are taught using a “laser gun” that replicates a real handgun. Grip, site alignment, trigger press and stance are covered.
Students shoot from both the standing and kneeling position. (Those who cannot kneel will still actively participate without utilizing that position.)
The software used in this class tracks the shot placement and movement of the gun as the trigger is pulled. This gives the students feedback on their shooting tendencies that are difficult to see in a live fire scenario.
This class allows the students to practice fundaments prior to going into the live fire “Third Step Class.” It also allows the instructor to understand the abilities and skill levels of the students prior to live fire.
The Second Step Class is a 2-hour block of instruction, builds on the First Step Class and cannot be taken without first having completed the First Step Class. It is a fun, realistic learning environment for everyone. Learning to use a handgun is often an intimidating skill. Utilizing this technology offers a safe, enjoyable and productive opportunity to learn the basics. Students will be fully prepared for Basic Pistol!
Firearm Safety-First Step Class
We welcome back former State Trooper, NRA Instructor Tami Watson to MTAC! Tami will be offering courses that prepare the students for our Basic Pistol course.
Have you wanted to learn about guns and were afraid to ask? Are there guns in your home, but you are afraid to pick them up? Can you carry a gun in a purse without it going off? Does being a woman mean I need a “little” gun? Questions like these, and many others will be covered, discussed, and answered in the “First Step” Safety Class.
Other topics covered include:
Refusing to be a victim.
Safety in public with or without a firearm
Shoot/don’t shoot scenarios
Conceal carry options, specifically for women.
What kind of gun would be appropriate?
We live in a world that is becoming increasingly violent. We can pretend it will never happen to us, or we can start today to change our mindset, become more aware of the world around us, and make it tougher to be viewed as an easy target. Being a woman poses unique challenges to stay safe and protect those we love, especially our little ones whether they be our children or grandchildren. How do we act as a team with those we spend time with?
Take the “First Step” today!
Come join me for an informative, educational, no holds barred discussion, concerning personal safety and hands-on firearms introduction. If you have a gun, feel free to bring it. No ammo required. Otherwise firearms will be provided. Bring a few friends.
Do something for you that may save your life or the life of someone else. Hope to see you soon!

Beyond A Door - MDFI
Class Flow: PHYSICALLY & MENTALLY INTENSE / This class is open to both Handgun and Long Gun.
Having to make movement inside a structure with an armed intruder is never advised. Even though this can put you at a major disadvantage, we recognize that there are certain circumstances when you may have to leave a known area for important reasons.
The culmination of all the core, foundation and advanced training classes we offer; MDFI’s Beyond A Door course takes place in a 360 degree shooting environment where each student’s capabilities and information processing are put to the test.
MDFI’s 2-Day Beyond A Door course will teach you how to make movement in any structure without exposing yourself unnecessarily while giving you a higher level of success when dealing with a real-world situation. Students will make multiple day and night runs through the shoot house during the two day class receiving feedback after every single evolution.
WHAT THIS CLASS IS:
This is a problem-solving class. Not a shooting class. You just happen to have a firearm with you. This is THE class to run your gear as you have it set up at home or your daily carry. This is the class to test your ability think, shoot and move at the same time. THIS CLASS IS HIGH-STRESS AND PHYSICALLY DEMANDING.
WHAT THIS CLASS IS NOT:
This class is not a tactical fantasy band-camp to wear cool gear, shoot a lot and take photos to post online. This class will not allow for showboats, egos, or bad weapon-handling skills. This class is not an excuse to dress up and play SWAT.
NOTE: THIS CLASS IS UTM/SIM ONLY AT AN INDOOR SHOOTHOUSE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SIMULATE COMMON OCCUPIED STRUCTURES. LIVE WEAPONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED* Please carry to class as legally warranted. Cadre will notify students of proper range-safety procedures prior to training.
Law Enforcement: This course is MCOLES certified through MDFI and counts toward training credit.
