Defensive Pistol - Red Dot introduction is the perfect course for the already trained shooter to make the transition to a red dot equipped pistol. First timers or those that struggle with obtaining the dot from the drawstroke.
Course Objectives:
Indoctrinate fundamentals as applies to red dot optics. Increase efficiency and performance and build confidence in each shooter in the carry/use of their red dot equipped pistol.
Topics covered:
1. Acquiring sight picture (dot) while presenting
2. Draw stroke
3. Basic fundamentals of shooting
4. Malfunctions
5. Reloading (want vs need)
Student Requirements: Must be comfortable with drawing and shooting, this is not a class teaching you how to draw and shoot as much as a refining of the fundamentals to better utilize the optic.
Recommended equipment: Weather appropriate attire, sunscreen, portable chair, range gear, no open toed shoes, food, hydration.
Required equipment: Clear eye protection meeting ANSI Z87.1, pistol belt, pants with pockets, and a positive attitude. 500 rounds of commercially loaded ball ammunition. Semiautomatic handgun with already zeroed mounted optic. Note taking materials, handgun, retention holster for your handgun, minimum of 3 magazines, belt mounted mag pouches are preferred.
